Yeast dough boats with chicken. Delicious dough boats with filling - recipe with photo

If you want to please your family with something tasty and original, you can make delicious dough boats filled with meat, potatoes and pickles. This is a great dish for breakfast or dinner.

To prepare the boats, use ready-made puff pastry without yeast. This dough can be purchased in advance and stored in the freezer. For example, that’s what I do.

So, to prepare this original dish we will need the following products:
0.5 kg puff pastry without yeast,
0.3 kg pork pulp,
one large onion,
four medium potatoes
120 g fresh butter,
one large pickled cucumber
60 g hard cheese,
one egg,
ground pepper and salt to taste.

The products are ready. And now the cooking process itself.

1. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer about twenty minutes before cooking and defrost. We cut each layer of dough into six rectangles of the same size. Sprinkle with flour and roll out lightly in one direction. We make neat cuts on opposite sides.

2. Boil the peeled potatoes until tender and make a puree, adding salt to taste and 40 g of butter. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth. After cutting the pork into small cubes, fry it in the remaining butter, which we melt in a frying pan. Fry on both sides over medium heat. Salt and pepper to taste. Cut the onion into half rings and add to the meat. Cover with a lid and simmer for ten minutes. Then, increasing the heat, simmer until the liquid has completely evaporated. Place on a plate and cool.

Place one tablespoon of mashed potatoes onto the prepared rectangles and spread evenly over the surface of the dough. Place chilled meat with onions on top, and a cucumber cut into small cubes on top.

3. Now carefully wrap the dough on both sides one by one so that the cuts are located in the middle of the pie, one above the other.

4. Pinch the edges tightly, giving the pie a boat shape.

5. Take a baking sheet and line it with baking paper. Carefully place the prepared boat on it. Grate the hard cheese and sprinkle on the boats. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and brush the dough with a brush.
6. Preheat the oven to two hundred degrees. Place the pan in the oven for twenty-five minutes. The boats should acquire a golden hue, and the cheese should melt and brown. Take the finished puff pastry boats out of the oven, cool slightly, place on a dish and, garnished with sprigs of fresh herbs, serve. Bon appetit everyone!

Snack pies-boats made of puff pastry stuffed with meat and potatoes fit perfectly into the dinner menu. Judge for yourself: tasty, satisfying, prepared quickly, without requiring any special skills. In addition to meat products - minced meat or pieces of pork, finely chopped sausage, frankfurters, and chicken fillet are added to the filling. Variants with fish are known; for example, a noble dish can be prepared with salmon.

If you add pickles and cheese to the potatoes and meat, the filling will become richer. Sometimes I add mushrooms, creating a kind of mini-pizza in boats. By the way, if you cover the pie with a fried egg on top, then you will have a completely different dish on your table, reminiscent of khachapuri.

Puff pastry is made without yeast or with yeast - it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to cook it yourself; nowadays it’s much faster to buy a couple of packages and throw it in the refrigerator, freeing yourself from fussing with flour.

Puff pastry boat recipe

I offer an almost universal recipe. Using the technology for preparing pies stuffed with potatoes and meat, you can add or change ingredients. Today I'm making chicken boats with potatoes.

You will need:

  • Dough packaging – 500 gr. (two layers).
  • Chicken fillet (the original recipe called for pork, but I preferred chicken).
  • Large onion.
  • Potatoes – 3-4 pcs.
  • Egg.
  • Pickle.
  • Butter – 100 gr.
  • Cheese – 50 gr.
  • Pepper, salt.

How to cook boats with meat

Let's start with the filling. If you're lucky and have some mashed potatoes left over from dinner, be happy and use it. Otherwise, quickly peel and boil the potatoes. Grind into a puree, add a piece of butter (30 grams, not everything indicated in the recipe).

At the same time, take care of the meat. I don't really like using minced meat. I prefer to chop meat products into small pieces.

Don’t be too fussy with the onion – cut it into half rings.

Fry the meat pieces in a frying pan, add onion rings to them and fry together, not forgetting to pepper and salt the filling.

First, cover with a lid, after 10 minutes, remove the lid and wait for the juice to evaporate. Cool the workpiece slightly.

Cut the cucumbers into strips into a separate bowl.

Lay out the layers of dough, divide into equal rectangles.

Roll out and make two parallel cuts, as in the photo.

Place the potatoes in the middle, between the slits, and smooth them out.

Spread the meat filling on top, in smaller quantities than the puree.

Top with cucumber straws.

Cover the filling with half of the layer, stretching the cut on this side - the filling will slightly open.

Pull the other half over the pie, stretching the dough again so that the filling remains visible.

Pinch the corners of the pie, it will look like a boat.

Whisk the egg and brush the top of the dough and filling.

Rub the shavings over the cheese and decorate the top of the boat.

All that remains is to grease the baking sheet, arrange the pieces in a row and send them to bake. The time spent in the oven is 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the products. Temperature – 200 o C.

Curly boats made of puff pastry

In these delicious puff pastries with mushrooms, I like the original way of rolling - giving the pastry a boat shape. To make boat pies, you can use any puff pastry; I made it from store-bought ones. For dough boats, various juicy or fatty fillings are suitable that will not dry out during baking.

These pies are useful and enjoyable to bake with children, the process of forming boats develops the child’s spatial thinking, contact with soft and pliable dough, the fine work of children’s hands improves speech, and baking itself develops the child’s creativity and imagination. In addition, joint constructive and creative work improves family relationships. So, let's make stuffed boats!

How to bake pies - boats

Prepare the mushroom filling

Cut the mushrooms into small pieces. Onion - thin half rings. Fry the onion in hot oil for 2 minutes, then add the mushrooms. Fry for 7-10 minutes until done. Sprinkle mushrooms with spices and salt to taste. Add herbs, sour cream and starch diluted in water. Mix well. Wait for the starch to brew (the mushroom mixture thickens), this will take 1-2 minutes.

Turn off the heat and cool.

Let's prepare the mushroom filling!

Separately, grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

This is what the mushroom filling in the finished puff pastries will look like!

How to make dough boats

Thaw the dough according to the instructions on the package (usually this takes about 20 minutes). Cut the dough sheets into squares. (I had 2 layers in the package, each cut into 9 squares).

Roll out each square to a size of 15x15 (match the size of the large cup or bowl you will be cutting with). Use a large cup to cut out a circle. Then take a smaller cup and cut out a circle inside the larger one, but be sure to leave untouched (uncut) sections of 1 cm each at the bottom and top (the junction of the inner circle with the rim, otherwise the rim will fall off).

First we cut out a large circle, then a small one inside it, leaving small joints, from which small curls are then formed

We put the left side of the rim to the right, and we put the right side under the left. Or vice versa, if you are right-handed)))

Then perform this trick: take the headbands on the right and left and thread them into each other.

This is the sign of infinity that intertwines the headbands threaded into each other.

The crossed rims of dough form borders on the inner circle of dough. This is how you get a dough boat.

Place intertwined rims on the edges of the inner circle

Assembling pies - boats

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If there is none, grease the baking sheet with oil or dust it with flour. Place empty blanks - boats on a baking sheet. You can transfer already filled pies to a baking sheet if you are confident in manual dexterity.

Spread the filling in a heap

Place 2 teaspoons of filling between the sides of each pie. Add some cheese on top.

Boats on a baking sheet

Brush the dough with a cloth or brush dipped in a mixture of beaten egg and 1 tablespoon of cool water.

Bake the boats with filling at a temperature of 220 degrees C until the dough is browned.

Features of preparing boats - open pies with filling

Pies - boats are easy to prepare, you just need to be careful not to cut off excess - leave jumpers connecting the outer ring of dough and the inner circle.

It was convenient for me to mark the inner circle with a cup with a handle; if I forgot that it was impossible to cut completely, then the handle of the mug acted as a natural obstacle (at least on one side), the process of maintaining the connecting strip on the opposite side had to be controlled by an effort of will;))

The fact that the rim of the boats is very flat, and the filling is convex (laid out in a slide), is not scary. In the oven, the baked goods will grow and the pies will have good sides of sufficient height.

Curls - boats with mushrooms and cheese are ready!

What to do to prevent the dough from sticking to the table and rolling pin

You need to sprinkle the cutting table with flour, powder your rolling pin and your hands in the same way, then the puff pastry will not stick when rolled out.

What cups to use for cutting boats

I had a large bowl with a diameter of about 15 cm and a smaller tea cup. The rim (ring) of the inner circle of dough was about 2.5-3 cm wide.

What to do with scraps - leftover dough

You can collect the scraps of dough into a pile, roll it out again and cut out circles. If the rolled out dough does not turn out to be a very convenient geometric shape, then you can make any other pies from it - croissants - recipe, envelopes, triangles or pyramids. For example, I baked pyramids with currants (I had frozen ones from the summer). You can add a little sugar to the filling if you don’t like the sourish-fresh taste.

We lift the edges of the dough triangle up and connect along the edges. We put the filling inside (I used currants)

Pyramids with berries are ready for baking

Ready-made puff pyramids with berries - very juicy and tasty!

How to cook boats with cottage cheese (cheesecakes)

For the curd filling, ready-made curd mass + 1 egg or a mixture of cottage cheese, sugar and sour cream + 1 egg, to which you can also add butter and raisins (dried apricots, berries or prunes), is suitable. The fattier the cottage cheese, the tastier the filling of these puff pastries will be.

To fill these puff cheesecakes - boats for 500 g of puff pastry, you will need about 1.5 packs of curd mass (300 g).

The sides will rise in the oven and the filling won't spread, don't worry!

Another way to make dough boats

Baking in the shape of a boat: pies and open khachapuri (those where an egg is then broken on top of the suluguni) are molded differently - the edges of the circle or oval, in the center of which the filling lies, are pinched at the edges. And no crossed dough rims.)))

The boat pies are small and filling. When you finish the last bite, you don’t feel like you’ve eaten too much, you just have a pleasant feeling inside. Because there is not much dough and enough filling. The boats are very tasty, crunchy, with a juicy and plentiful mushroom or curd filling! I regret that I didn’t bake enough of these puff pastries; I should have made a second batch right away from a new package of dough.

Boats with potatoes, meat and cucumbers

Puff pastry boats with potatoes, meat and cucumbers are a wonderful dish. It is a full dinner, including a meat dish, a side dish, an appetizer and even bread. The boats look very colorful, reminiscent of a large dumpling with a side dish peeking out of it. The taste is simply perfect - the classic combination of mashed potatoes with meat will not leave any gourmet indifferent. And pickled cucumbers will only emphasize the taste of the dish. When serving, I recommend sprinkling the boats with herbs. The specified amount of ingredients makes 4-8 servings.

Ingredients:

  • potatoes – 1 kg
  • pork – 400 g
  • onion – 1 pc. (large size)
  • barrel pickled cucumbers - 3-4 pcs. (small size)
  • puff pastry – 400 g egg
  • chicken – 1 pc.
  • hard cheese – 50 g

Cooking method:

  1. Peel the potatoes, boil and prepare mashed potatoes in your usual way. I prepared it in advance.
  2. Finely chop the pork into pieces. Peel the onion and cut into half rings, then fry in a heated frying pan until tender.
  3. I usually do this: fry the meat over high heat, stirring for about 5 minutes, then add the onion, stir, reduce the gas and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
  4. Then open the lid and simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat until the juice has evaporated slightly. The meat is ready. This time I had goulash prepared according to this recipe in the refrigerator.
  5. We cut the cucumbers into rings or half rings, if large. It is advisable to use salted or barrel ones. If you wish, you can add more cucumbers than indicated in the recipe, this will only make the dish tastier. Grate the hard cheese onto a fine grater.
  6. Thaw the finished puff pastry and divide it into 4 parts. My dough initially consisted of 4 pieces. Depending on the size of the boat you want to make, you can divide each part in half again. I prepared 4 palm-sized boats.
  7. Next, roll out each piece of dough into a rectangle, tripling its original size. The edges of the rolled out rectangle should be slightly thinner than the middle. We make equal longitudinal cuts on the sides.
  8. Place two tablespoons of prepared puree in the center of each boat, on top of it - a layer of meat and slices of cucumbers.
  9. Then we wrap each side in turn so that the cut is in the center. Like this.
  10. We give our product a boat shape and carefully pinch the sides. If in some places it turns out that there is too much dough, then simply carefully remove the excess.
  11. Prepare the egg mixture and brush the boats with it. Then place them on a baking sheet so that the boats do not touch each other. To do this, I placed them one by one on the sides with foil.
  12. Sprinkle the cut of the boats with grated cheese and place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for approximately 25 minutes or until the boats are browned on all sides.

  2. How to make dough boats Defrost the dough according to the instructions on the package (usually this takes about 20 minutes).
  3. Cut the dough sheets into squares. (I had 2 layers in the package, each cut into 9 squares). Roll out each square to a size of 15x15 (match the size of the large cup or bowl you will be cutting with).
  4. Use a large cup to cut out a circle. Then take a smaller cup and cut out a circle inside the larger one, but be sure to leave untouched (uncut) sections of 1 cm each at the bottom and top (the junction of the inner circle with the rim, otherwise the rim will fall off). First, we cut out a large circle, then, inside it, a small one, leaving small joints, from which small curls are then formed. We put the left side of the rim to the right, and we thread the right side under the left. Or vice versa, if you are right-handed))) Then perform this trick: take the headbands on the right and left and thread them into each other.
  5. With this infinity sign, the rims threaded into each other are intertwined. The crossed rims of the dough form the sides on the inner circle of the dough. This is how you get a dough boat. Lay out the intertwined rims on the edges of the inner circle. Assembling pies - boats. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If there is none, grease the baking sheet with oil or dust it with flour.
  6. Place empty blanks - boats on a baking sheet. You can transfer already filled pies to a baking sheet if you are confident in manual dexterity. Place a mound of filling. Place 2 teaspoons of filling between the sides of each pie. Add some cheese on top. Boats on a baking sheet Grease the dough with a cloth or brush dipped in a mixture of beaten egg and 1 tablespoon of cool water. Bake the boats with filling at a temperature of 220 degrees C until the dough is browned.
